<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\u201cI started the Brightest Stars Foundation 16 years ago because I realized there were no little ones in the pipeline who looked like me coming up.\u00a0Because I had accomplished so much, it was important for me\u00a0to pay it\u00a0forward. I\u2019ve mentored scores and scores of young people \u2013 early career professionals in high school, in college, and from all over the world \u2013 so they could be inspired and empowered by my career and my journey.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s about hard work. It\u2019s about determination. It\u2019s about focus. It\u2019s about tenacity. And most importantly, it\u2019s about believing in yourself. Because\u00a0sometimes\u00a0others don\u2019t believe in you,\u00a0so it\u2019s important to\u00a0get into the zone and say, \u2018I\u00a0am<\/em>\u00a0going! I know my path, and I can do this!\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cMy mentoring style is about being\u00a0authentic but also being\u00a0vulnerable\u00a0and sharing\u00a0all\u00a0the ups and the downs, the trials and the tribulations\u00a0of my journey and career. This is not an easy field, so\u00a0as\u00a0one of the few\u00a0womenof color\u00a0in the field,\u00a0it is important to share in a way that empowers and inspires those that want to follow in my footsteps. \u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cYou\u00a0must\u00a0have grit, resilience, courage and strength.
