Spacewalk Concludes After Abnormal Battery Readings<\/h2>\n

Expedition 67 Commander Oleg Artemyev and Flight Engineer Denis Matveev, both of Roscosmos,\u00a0concluded their spacewalk at\u202f1:54\u00a0p.m. EDT after 4 hours and 1 minute.<\/p>\n

During the spacewalk, the two cosmonauts completed the installation of two cameras on the European robotic arm prior to\u00a0Artemyev\u2019s Orlan spacesuit showing abnormal battery readings about 2 hours and 17 minutes into the extravehicular activity. Mission Control-Moscow instructed\u00a0Artemeyev to return to the Poisk airlock to connect to the space station\u2019s power supply.\u00a0Cosmonaut Sergey Korsakov, inside the station,\u00a0placed the European robotic arm in a safe configuration, and Matveev\u00a0safely\u00a0returned to the Poisk airlock\u00a0after completing some final clean-up activities outside of the International Space Station. The duo was never in any danger during the operations.<\/p>\n

Additional spacewalks are planned to continue outfitting the European robotic arm and to activate Nauka\u2019s airlock for future spacewalks. The work on the\u00a0European robotic arm will be used to move spacewalkers and payloads around the Russian segment of the station.<\/p>\n

This was the seventh spacewalk in Artemyev\u2019s career, and the\u00a0third for Matveev. It was the seventh spacewalk at the station in 2022 and the 252nd\u00a0spacewalk<\/a>\u202ffor space station assembly, maintenance, and upgrades.<\/p>\n
