href=\"https:\/\/science.nasa.gov\/blogs\/sols-4205-4206-curiosity-would-like-one-of-each-please\/\" rel=\"noopener\">ice cream shop<\/a>\u00a0for planning today, with the delicious feast of rock flavours still at arm\u2019s reach and begging to be sampled. In the previous plan, one such flavour, captured in today\u2019s blog image and perhaps most analogous to Rocky Road (not only given that Curiosity drove over this rock causing it to fracture, but also arguably the appearance as well), caught the eye of the operations team. There was desire to place APXS on this target, \u201cConvict Lake,\u201d\u00a0in the previous plan but the team ultimately did not have the image data available that would permit Curiosity to safely do so at a suitably close distance for APXS. Not to be discouraged, Monday\u2019s operations team pivoted and utilized part of the plan to acquire images of Convict Lake that would enable better APXS placement in today\u2019s plan.<\/p>\n<p>The required images for targeting Convict Lake (aka Rocky Road, just with a chocolate to marshmallow ratio that would leave chocolate lovers heartbroken) with APXS arrived just in time for planning today. These images made it possible to focus on the central task of today\u2019s two-sol plan: place APXS close to\u00a0<em>Rocky Road<\/em>\u00a0and target two areas that are specifically more \u201cmarshmallow\u201d and less on \u201cchocolate\u201d (sorry chocolate fans).<\/p>\n<p>In addition to APXS on Convict Lake, ChemCam also targeted Convict Lake using its laser and imaging capabilities.\u00a0 MAHLI returned for seconds (and thirds!), only this time pairing yet more daytime images with others taken at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpl.nasa.gov\/news\/mars-rover-curiosity-uses-arm-camera-at-night\" rel=\"noopener\">night while utilizing its illumination capabilities<\/a>. ChemCam and Mastcam also imaged \u201cPetes Col\u201d and \u201cBuckeye Ridge,\u201d with Mastcam additionally imaging \u201cCamp Four,\u201d as well as \u201cTen Lakes\u201d and \u201cWalker Lake\u201d a number of times over the course of the two-sol plan.<\/p>\n<p>I for one am very excited about the particular offerings at his specific\u00a0<em>shop\u00a0<\/em>and what we may ultimately learn from our\u00a0<em>sampling<\/em>. I, like APXS, may just have two scoops of ice cream tonight myself, perhaps even following in MAHLI\u2019s footsteps by doing so after the sun has set when nobody else is watching (we\u2019ve all done it, let\u2019s be honest). Unfortunately, I do not have Rocky Road, and I think I\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpl.nasa.gov\/news\/meteorite-found-on-mars-yields-clues-about-planets-past\" rel=\"noopener\">missed my chance to
