After the first launch attempt of NASA\u2019s Boeing Crew Flight Test, a news conference is held on Monday, May 6, 2024 at the agency\u2019s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. As part of the agency\u2019s Commercial Crew Program, the first crewed launch to the International Space Station aboard Boeing\u2019s Starliner spacecraft atop a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket from Space Launch Complex-41 at nearby Cape Canaveral Space Force Station was targeted for 10:34 p.m. ET but scrubbed for the day.\u00a0 Photo credit: NASA\/Kim Shiflett<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

NASA, Boeing, and ULA (United Launch Alliance) are targeting no earlier than Friday, May 10, for launch of the agency\u2019s Boeing Crew Flight Test to the International Space Station,\u00a0pending resolution of the\u00a0technical issue that prevented the May 6 launch attempt.<\/p>\n

The delay allows teams to complete data analysis on a pressure regulation valve on the liquid oxygen tank of the Atlas V rocket \u2018s Centaur upper stage and determine whether it is necessary to replace the valve.<\/p>\n

Mission managers discussed the details that led to the decision during a\u00a0news conference<\/a>\u00a0Monday night at NASA\u2019s Kennedy Space Center.<\/p>\n

Following the scrub, NASA astronaut Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams exited the Starliner spacecraft and launch pad at Space Launch Complex-41 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida and returned to the astronaut crew quarters at Kennedy. ULA, as per the normal recycle process, also removed liquid oxygen and hydrogen from the Atlas V first and second stages.<\/p>\n
