Congrats to\u00a0NASA partner Zooniverse<\/a>\u00a0for being named winners in the White House\u2019s\u00a0Year of Open Science Recognition Challenge!<\/a><\/p>\n

The White House Office of Science & Technology Policy\u00a0(OSTP) designated 2023 as the year of Open Science, and invited innovators to submit stories of\u00a0how they\u2019ve advanced equitable open science.\u00a0OSTP and its federal partners selected five challenge project submissions as \u201cChampions of Open Science\u201d including Zooniverse.<\/p>\n

Since 2007, Zooniverse has become the largest online open data platform for people-powered research, engaging more than\u00a02.7 million people. NASA Citizen Science projects hosted on the Zooniverse platform include\u00a0Cloudspotting on Mars<\/a>, Dark Energy Explorers<\/a>,\u00a0Floating Forests<\/a>,\u00a0Are We Alone In the Universe?<\/a>,\u00a0Disk Detective<\/a>,\u00a0Solar Active Region Spotter<\/a>,\u00a0Backyard Worlds: Cool Neighbors<\/a>,\u00a0Backyard Worlds: Planet 9<\/a>,\u00a0Active Asteroids<\/a>,\u00a0Daily Minor Planet<\/a>,\u00a0Solar Jet Hunter<\/a>,\u00a0Jovian Vortex Hunter<\/a>, Redshift Wrangler<\/a>,\u00a0Burst Chaser<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Planet Hunters TESS<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith Zooniverse we have classified more galaxies than we ever thought possible!\u201d said\u00a0Lindsay House, scientist on the\u00a0Dark Energy Explorers<\/a>\u00a0project.\u00a0\u00a0\u201cZooniverse participants have been vital in helping us map the universe.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
